2016 TCR Germany Champion is back with Target Competition for a 2017 title defence

In a last minute deal, the 26-year-old reigning champion Josh Files, ‘Feile’ is back for the 2017 TCR Germany season with his 2016 championship squad Target Competition behind the wheel of his winning Honda Civic TCR.

The Briton will have fierce competition competing against no less than 40 other drivers in the 2017 season, with at least 5 different car brands represented.

The championship winning pairing of Target Competition and ‘Feile’ himself will have all eyes looking at them come round 1 of the season at Oschersleben as they look to defend both drivers and teams championships in 2017.

“I have no doubt this year will be a completely different and much tougher challenge” said Files “I’m happy to be returning in my Honda with Target as we now have a year of experience together and more experience with the car also”

“Last year felt amazing to become the inaugural TCR Germany champions. It was hard at the start but when we got the Honda’s we knew we had a real shot at the title. Our testing was during the race weekends last year, so it took the whole season to really get on top of the car, and now we have some testing under our belts, I feel my 2017 title fighting car will be really up to the new challenge ahead. I am seriously not underestimating the new fights and difficulties that the 2017 season is going to bring, it will definitely be hard, but I love a challenge” Explained the 2 time TCR champion.

Target Competition are equally happy with the late signing of their 2016 champion. “We are very happy to have our 2016 champion return to us for another season. We had a 3rd Honda available and with Josh we have a proven race winner and champion so for us there was no question we needed to get him back in our team.” Said Markus Gummerer, team principle of Target Competition “We now have 7 cars, with an amazing driver line up and we can honestly say we will be pushing from the start for wins, podiums and all of the championships”

The season kicks off in Oschersleben, Germany on 28th April with 6 more rounds to follow from RedBull Ring, Oschersleben, Zandvoort, Nurburgring and Sachsenring with the season finale taking place at Hockenheim on 24th September.
